Over the years, our team at Robinsons has been called to replace multiple commercial boilers in Yorkshire. Our heating engineers know exactly what they are looking for when answering customer calls, and if the boiler is faulty then there’s no time to waste with getting it fixed.
Carbon Monoxide – “The Silent Killer”
As it’s invisible to the naked eye, carbon monoxide can be particularly hard to identify. As an odourless, colourless gas it can build up indoors without even realising it.
There are various causes for carbon monoxide emissions and often it’s due to the boiler not being fitted correctly or well-maintained. Known as the “silent killer”, it is estimated that over 200 people each year go to hospital with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. If you notice an increase in headaches, breathlessness or stomach pains this could be directly linked to your faulty boiler.
If you don’t already have them in your business, carbon monoxide detectors can be fitted to help identify harmful monoxide emissions and prevent health issues.
Explosive Ignition
Another danger to be aware of is explosive ignition. If you notice a loud noise when your boiler fires up then you could have a serious problem. In some cases the gas pressure just needs adjusting; in other cases it can be an electrode issue. Either way, if left and not fixed by an engineer it could get worse and become dangerous. Just like a car, boilers need some regular TLC to prevent problems developing like this.
