We know the clear benefits of solar PV and wind energy paving the way for a brighter, energy efficient future. However, we must also be aware that these particular sources are not always able to provide us with the energy we need all year round. Not only that, some renewable energy sources are generated when we need them the least, ironically.
There may be a solution, however. Recent news suggests that a cost-effective way of dealing with this is by storing electrical energy so it can be used at peak times. By doing this, the utimate goal would be to store electrical energy at a cost that is less than what it would be to generate it. The concept would allow for greater flexibility with energy sources and mean that electricity could be used for heating commercial buildings at a cost far cheaper than gas.
Renewable energy sources are key in helping us to lower carbon emissions, and by preserving the energy from solar PV and wind turbines we can use this as a cheaper alternative to traditional gas.
